For Rosemary Frank and Sheldon Bryant, it wasn’t enough to know that there were people in need; they
needed to know how they could help.
In 2015 the seed was planted as a fondness for charitable giving and vehicles grew which brought the two
Founders of Smoke Signals™ together...
As founders of Smoke Signals™ they combine the idea of communication with community involvement.
Smoke signals, one of the oldest forms of long-distance communication were a visual way to connect, inform,
and elicit a response.
Today's Smoke Signals™ do just that.
It's a way to transmit news, bring people together in a common area for awareness, and
serve the people in the community.
So, what exactly does this look like?
In 2017, the inaugural Smoke Signals™ Charity Auto Show opened its gate at Mystic
Lake Hotel and Casino parking lot. The success of that event showed how many basic
needs could be met for the community and by the community they were serving.
This became an ongoing event and led to the decision of attaining 501(c)3 non-profit status in 2018.
The signature events of Smoke Signals™ are their own charity programs,
"Ride4Mobility" and The Little Market That Could™, Smoke Signals™ student scholarship mentoring program.
"Ride4Mobility" focuses on raising funds to help those in need of wheelchairs, walkers, and mobility scooters.
The Little Market That Could™ is an open-air community farmers market and classic vehicle roll-in. This
initiative gets fresh, locally grown food into the mouths of low-income youth ages 4-12 years old and seniors over 62 in the Prior Lake/Savage area-As an outlet for the University of Minnesota Power of Produce Program (P.O.P.), this is the first and only open air farmers market in Scott County of its kind. Both allows Smoke Signals™ to be sustainable and grow within.
Smoke Signals™ is reaching out to the community through events and fundraisers that
help people in practical ways. By linking up local farmers, artisan food chefs, artists, craft makers, butchers, bread makers, beekeepers, and more, a collective gathering of resources and reciprocity is created.
The objectives of Smoke Signals™ are simple however powerful:
Sustainability - committed to minimizing ecological footprints collectively
Wise stewardship - careful and responsible use of resources entrusted to their care
Commitment for community - engaging and bringing people together in amazing ways, one event at a time.
Founders, Rosemary Frank and Sheldon Bryant,
each bring a high level of empathy to their involvement with Smoke Signals™.
Sheldon has been described as "a very caring person whose mission is to make a
difference in the world."
Rosemary fell in love with nonprofits and giving when she was only a teenager. Inspired
